You hired a helper to get some of your time back. Then you became her trainer: the cooking lesson, the safety lesson, the how-our-family-does-things lesson, over and over, usually while trying to do your own job.
A hard first month is usually not a bad match. It is a helper who was never actually taught the job, learning it from you, in your kitchen, at your expense.
The short answer
Most of her training can be done on her own phone instead of by you. Helper Corner gives her 10 modules with quizzes and 80 step-by-step Singapore recipes, in Indonesian, Myanmar, Tagalog or English. It is SGD 188 for 6 months, one payment, down from SGD 288 during our launch.
What it actually contains
- 10 modules from a 19-module curriculum. Workplace conduct, everyday English, housekeeping, kitchen and food safety, childcare basics, eldercare basics and four more. The other nine are the specialist add-ons below.
- 80 real recipes, step by step. From Hainanese chicken rice and kopitiam half-boiled eggs to everyday pasta, air-fryer and kid-friendly food, so she is cooking what your family actually eats.
- Audio, real photos and short quizzes rather than a course you sit through with her.
- Four languages. Indonesian, Myanmar, Tagalog and English, so she learns in the one she actually thinks in.
All she needs is her own phone and a pair of earphones, since many lessons have audio. There is nothing to install and nothing for you to set up on her behalf. Her progress is saved to her Helper Code rather than the handset, so a lost or changed phone does not cost her the work she has done.
Who gets the most out of it
First-time employers. You are learning the role at the same time she is, and nobody has told either of you what good looks like.
A fresh helper with no Singapore experience. The pace, the standard and the vocabulary are all new at once.
A newborn in the house. Feeding, bathing and safe handling for 0 to 6 months is one of the specialist add-ons.
An elderly parent at home. Dementia care has its own add-on: communication, safety and dignity.
A child who needs more support. Patient, structured help for a child with special needs.
Finally, an app that the helper can learn on her own. The real life examples and vocab photos with audio have been helpful, I do not have to do all the teaching.

What it costs
SGD 188, one payment, covering 6 months of her core training. That is down from SGD 288 and it is an introductory price during our launch, for a limited period. There is one plan, no monthly or annual version, and no trial. Once her training has started it is non-refundable, so decide before you pay rather than after.
The nine specialist modules are add-ons on top, and they are requested through your consultant rather than bought at a checkout. They unlock only once the base plan is running, so the base comes first.
Three more are SGD 28 each: Mandarin Basics, Japanese and Korean Cuisine, which brings 13 extra recipes, and Numbers, Time and Money.
If her employment with you ends partway through, her remaining months travel with her to her next placement through us. A new helper starts fresh, and the payment is not refunded.
Can you see how she is doing
Yes, though not by logging in anywhere. There is a report on her training that we send you as a link: what she has worked through, anything extra that was added, and her certificate once she earns it. Ask your consultant and they will send it to you.
You can also simply ask at your next follow-up call. Staff will tell you where she is as a number of modules out of ten, so you get the scope rather than a bare figure. What does not exist yet is a dashboard you log into whenever you feel like it. That is on the list, not hidden.
Two ways to start
It is open to any helper, whether or not she came from us. If you hired elsewhere and want her trained, you can sign her up the same way.
- Set it up yourself on the Helper Corner page. It takes a few minutes and she is active within about an hour.
- Or ask your consultant to add it in the same conversation, with nothing for you to set up on her behalf.
Either works. If she has only just arrived, our guide to the first 14 days with a new helper covers what to expect while she settles in.
It is not your job to train her
See what is in it, in her language, at unistarr.com.sg/helper-corner, or tell a consultant at either branch to add it for you. There is no charge for a consultation or an interview.
